Designing with Cricut Explore & Electronics

No pre-requisites required, enroll and continue with a monthly fee for this 12-week program. This is a special course that combines art with engineering. Students will be given beginner electronics lessons, learn about sensors, LEDs and motors. We will also teach how to use the Cricut Explore Air to print and cut graphic designs. Projects include building your own interactive board game, robot pets, t-shirt printing and more. All programming is done using easy to use Scratch visual blocks. This course empowers student to understand how pieces of technology can be used to put together any idea that they can dream of!

Robot Programming with Scratch
Apr 4 – Jun 20, 2020
Every Saturday, 11:00 AM - 12:30 PM

No pre-requisites required, enroll and continue with a monthly fee for this 12-week program. Students will program their mBot robots using simple visual blocks and Scratch programming environment. The focus is on creating fun robot-human interactions. Students will learn about the basic building blocks of programming. This will include loops, variables, inputs, outputs and conditional statements. Projects include dancing robots, obstacle avoidance, autonomous police car and much more!

Robot Programming with C Code
Apr 4 – Jun 20, 2020

No pre-requisites required, enroll and continue with a monthly fee for this 12-week program. This is a more advanced coding class that will introduce robot programming using C code. C code is the industry standard in embedded programming and students will learn the basic syntax and logic required to program their mBot. Focus will be on learning about the microcontroller and how to read analog and digital sensors in order to complete logical instructions for the robot. We will introduce loops, variables, functions and logical statements. Projects will include line following robot challenges, Tesla autonomous car, light sensing inch-bot and much more!

Fayez is a graduate of the University of Waterloo, Mechatronics Engineering program and holds a P.Eng and MBA. He has spent 12 years designing and managing projects spanning robotics, medical surgical training devices and nuclear sensors.
Zeehan is a Product Manager at UHN, Toronto General Hospital. She studied Life Sciences at McMaster University and holds a Masters Degree in Management Analytics. Her area of specialty is in managing software products for health care. Her current project focuses on helping children with arthritis.
Maliha is a Software Developer at EQ Works. She is also a Pharm.D graduate of the University of Toronto. Her creative spirit has led her to work for start-ups such as Nanoleaf, and SpeakerBooth. Outside of work, she volunteers to empower kids with autism and hosts her own improv classes.
Allie has her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from York U and her Bachelor and Master of Education from OISE. She has been teaching for over 10 years and has a passion for whole child education. She is a firm believer in the power that play and nature have in the education and well-being of children and adults alike.
